Russia Is to Connect Civil Drones to ERA-GLONASS From March 1
The move is expected to become one of the steps toward building a unified system for identifying unmanned transport nationwide.

Starting March 1, civil aerial drones in Russia are set to be connected to ERA-GLONASS, the state emergency response and navigation information system. Legislative amendments prepared by the Ministry of Transport have been approved by a Russian government decree. The measure is positioned as part of the effort to create a Unified System for Identifying Unmanned Transport, an initiative previously outlined by President Vladimir Putin.
From March 1, 2026, the connection of civilian drones to the state information system will become mandatory. The mechanism has already been tested on a pilot basis in 35 regions across the country.
The digital platform enables authorities to track flight paths, data on operators and owners, as well as the time and speed of aircraft movement. Officials say this will make unmanned aviation more transparent.
Online Monitoring on Land, Water, and in the Air
Previously, it was reported that Russia had launched a new support system for the transport sector built on the national messenger Max. GLONASS has introduced specialized chatbots designed to help companies quickly resolve issues related to navigation equipment and data transmission.
