Russia Launches First Free Quantum Computing Platform

Users from students to corporations can now run quantum algorithms on a 30-qubit emulator, fully compatible with Russian infrastructure.

Russia has unveiled its first domestic online platform for quantum computing, developed by the Russian Technological University MIREA. The platform is free and open to everyone—from students to major IT companies—and is part of the national roadmap for quantum computing.

The system enables users to build and test quantum algorithms on a 30-qubit emulator that rivals global counterparts. Its key advantage is full compatibility with Russia’s Elbrus platform, which not only accelerates performance but also strengthens the country’s technological independence.

According to Andrey Zuev, director of the Institute of Information Technologies at MIREA, the initiative makes quantum technologies accessible to all:

“It’s not just a scientific tool—it’s a way to train talent for the digital economy of the future. Students, developers, and businesses can now learn, experiment, and create breakthrough solutions,” he said.

The platform will serve universities, research centers, and IT firms across fields like AI, molecular modeling, logistics, finance, and computer vision. Quantum computing has broad applications—from scientific research and business to environmental science and cybersecurity.

Experts estimate the global quantum computing market will reach $14.1 trillion by 2035. Russia now has its own entry point into this high-tech race, laying the groundwork for future scientific and industrial breakthroughs.
