Russian Companies Get AI Auditor to Vet Contractor Cybersecurity
CICADA8 has rolled out a major update to CyberRating, which the company describes as Russia’s first platform for automated cybersecurity assessments of contractors and subsidiary organizations.

The upgrade was driven by a growing security problem. According to CICADA8 analysts, more than one-third of cybersecurity incidents in 2025 were linked to breaches involving partners and contractors with access to customer infrastructure. In late 2025, Russia’s Federal Service for Technical and Export Control officially classified the lack of contractor oversight as one of the country’s most common cybersecurity violations. Since March 2026, contractor-related security requirements have also become mandatory under FSTEK Order No. 117.
The updated platform combines external perimeter monitoring with audits of a contractor’s internal processes inside a single interface for the first time. Built-in AI tools analyze contractor documentation — including password policies, trade secret procedures and disaster recovery plans — and identify compliance gaps within seconds, a process that previously took weeks.
