At Pyatigorsk State University, researchers are developing software to detect fraudulent call scripts, TASS reported, citing Ekaterina Efimova, professor in the Department of Creative and Innovative Management and Law.

Efimova said the university operates a psycholinguistic analysis laboratory focused on studying voice interactions between scammers and victims. Specialists are building a software system capable of capturing such dialogues in real time. Researchers found that fraud scripts carry a distinctive linguistic signature. The program analyzes not what is being said, but how speech is structured.

Identifying Manipulation

“A fraudulent script has a unique linguistic fingerprint and always unfolds in two phases. The first is alignment, when pseudo-official vocabulary is used to simulate a legitimate contact. The second phase is the attack – a sharp shift to imperatives, escalating urgency, depriving the victim of time to reflect, and applying specific emotional pressure,” TASS quoted Efimova as saying.

The tool developed by the researchers will detect and flag manipulative patterns. A mathematical model based on speech analysis will record conversations with scammers. The development is expected to strengthen Russia’s position in cybersecurity.
