Russian Scientists Develop AI-Driven Heating Controllers for Smart Energy Savings

Researchers in Siberia have engineered intelligent thermal controllers that can slash heating costs and carbon emissions—outperforming even top-tier foreign models.

A team at Transbaikal State University in Russia has produced its first batch of experimental smart heat controllers powered by artificial intelligence. The devices are designed to automatically manage heating systems with greater energy efficiency, according to the Russian industry outlet Energetika i Promyshlennost Rossii.

Unlike conventional systems, these AI controllers learn and adapt to fluctuations in thermal load, making them more precise than their foreign counterparts. In test trials, the controllers delivered 3 percent greater energy savings compared to the best-performing imported models.

“This device doesn’t just regulate temperature—it analyzes incoming data, predicts heating demands, and fine-tunes system performance to cut both costs and emissions,” explained Georgy Palkin, project supervisor.

The first devices will be installed in campus buildings, with plans for broader rollout in residential utilities. Developers believe the technology could appeal to construction firms and property managers looking to curb heating expenses amid rising energy prices.
