Russia Tests Autonomous Spraying Robot for Orchards and Vineyards

The S1000 robot, designed for spraying, weeding, and crop transport, has passed field trials across southern Russia and is ready for deployment.

A new robotic sprayer developed by Russian companies ITELMA and Kalina-Agro has completed successful field trials in Ingushetia, North Ossetia, the Stavropol region, and Central Russia. The S1000 robot proved effective in both traditional and high-density orchards, as well as in vineyards.

Equipped with intelligent navigation, tree-bypass sensors, and a smart power distribution system, the unmanned vehicle moves at a speed of 6 km/h and is operated remotely via controller. It supports spray rates from 400 to 1,000 liters per hectare, dispersing liquid vertically from above to coat both sides of each plant row.

Beyond spraying, the robot can also handle weed control and crop transportation. Perhaps most notably, a single operator can control an entire fleet of S1000 machines, hinting at its scalability for large agricultural operations.
