The displays show public transit schedules and arrival times. While waiting, passengers can use the interactive panel to visit the websites of socially important organizations and submit inquiries. The shelters also have charging ports for mobile devices and video surveillance cameras.

The project was implemented jointly with the regional government, lawmakers, the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure, and the regional branch of the People’s Front. The shelter on Marshal Konev Drive was installed at the request of local residents because a regional children’s hospital and a fitness and recreation center are located nearby.

“A number of important organizations are located here, including the regional children’s hospital and the fitness and recreation center. Our service center alone is visited by about 5,000 Smolensk residents every month, or more than 50,000 people a year,” said Dmitry Bazarov, deputy CEO and director of the Smolensk branch of Rosatom Energy Sales.
