Ahmed Salem Saleh Al-Wahishi: Russia and Yemen Aim to Expand Cooperation in Digital Education
Representatives of more than 100 countries have gathered at the Mechta venue in Gorky Park for the 2nd Global Digital Forum, which runs from October 8 to 10.
Today, participants are discussing the digital divide, responsible AI development and the protection of human rights in the age of algorithms. After one of the discussions, Ahmed Salem Saleh Al-Wahishi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Yemen to the Russian Federation, shared his impressions with IT Russia:
– We are taking part in the 2026 Global Digital Forum because this is an event of great importance to everyone. We understand that digital technologies are developing very rapidly and on a massive scale, and are penetrating virtually every aspect of our lives.
Of course, this is happening in Russia, in the Arab countries and around the world. And, naturally, it is very important to discuss all the issues related to the development of artificial intelligence.
We are very grateful to the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation for inviting us to take part in this forum. We had planned for our country to be represented by a large delegation, but unfortunately, the unstable situation in the region made that impossible, so I am representing my country here today.
As part of the forum, we plan to take part in several meetings. Our agenda was discussed earlier together with the ambassadors of several Arab countries. These issues were also discussed at meetings held at the Higher School of Economics. Our task is to develop various educational programs that would include lectures and student exchange programs between our countries. We are considering establishing several regional education centers in our country. With support from the Russian Federation, these centers could help our young people receive specialized education and training in the use of digital technologies.
We also know that digital technologies are already widely used in several major Arab cities, and we would like to discuss these issues.
Today, I am scheduled to meet with the Deputy Minister of Digital Development of the Russian Federation to discuss further cooperation based on the long-standing relationship between our countries. Next year, we will celebrate the centenary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries.
