Mazuze Orlando: Digital Technologies Require a Security-First Approach
Representatives from dozens of countries have gathered in Moscow for the 2nd Global Digital Forum (GDF), which has once again become a voice for the Global South.
From October 8 to 10, the Mechta venue in Gorky Park is hosting discussions on building technology partnerships and integrating digital solutions into national ecosystems, with participants calling for a digital environment that is safe and equitable for everyone.
Mazuze Orlando of Mozambique, CEO of Inviktus, spoke to an IT Russia correspondent about the opportunities such exchanges create for advancing technology:
– My company works on cyber diplomacy and IT security. We are now seeing very rapid advances in artificial intelligence and digital technologies. At the same time, it is important to recognize that AI can pose significant threats that need to be addressed. I came here to learn how experts from Russia and other countries are responding to these challenges together.
This is my third visit to Russia. During my first visit, I had the opportunity to meet Russian IT professionals. Now I would like to expand those contacts and explore how experts from Russia and Mozambique can work together. Digital governance and the safe use of the internet are particularly important to us. A great many people use digital technologies today, but the risks associated with leaks of sensitive data are not always taken into account. So one of our key priorities is learning how to use the internet safely and protect information.
