A master's student at Kabardino-Balkarian State University has patented a software application called MedicalAutomate. The web service uses neural networks to detect signs of brain tumors in MRI scans. It also features the latest medical news, user reviews, and a disease reference guide. In addition, registered physicians have access to a set of tools for expanding the service's information database.

The developer began working on the project in 2023. Murat Kiyasov initially developed it as his undergraduate thesis and is now continuing the work as part of his master's studies. The service is straightforward to use: users upload an MRI scan and complete a questionnaire. The image is then classified, the resulting diagnosis is compared with the patient's medical history, and the risk of complications is calculated. The system generates a report containing forecasts and recommendations for the physician.

“Developing intelligent clinical decision-support systems can reduce the likelihood of diagnostic errors to a minimum. Fully replacing medical professionals with algorithms remains a distant prospect, but neural networks can already take over routine preliminary data processing, leaving the physician responsible for the final verification of the results,” Kiyasov explained.
