Muhammad Afaq: Young Professionals Benefit From Attending Events Like This to Exchange Ideas and Gain Knowledge
The Second Global Digital Forum in Moscow brought together representatives from 120 countries, giving them an opportunity not only to discuss technological developments but also to share professional experience, learn about new technologies and connect with colleagues.

Pakistani engineer Muhammad Afaq spoke with a reporter from the IT Russia media platform about his impressions of the forum and shared his views on the future of AI:
– I’m an engineer working in artificial intelligence and climate research, and I also collaborate with one of Pakistan’s largest construction companies. I’m very glad to be at this outstanding forum. It’s a valuable experience for me, as I’ve only recently completed my studies. I think young professionals can particularly benefit from attending events like this to exchange ideas, gain new knowledge and meet their peers.
Today, artificial intelligence is one of the most important technologies. There are different types of AI: some systems solve specific problems, while others can handle a broader range of questions and help make predictions.
Over the next 10 years, the mathematical models underlying AI will become significantly more sophisticated. They have certain limitations today, but I think we can make substantial progress during that time.
Artificial intelligence needs to be regulated and monitored, but its development should not be held back. If we slow this process down, scientific research will slow down as well.
We need to test generative models and monitor how they evolve. If their behavior remains stable, that may indicate that they are safe. But if there are unexpected leaps in a neural network’s development or capabilities, we need to pause its further development and carry out additional testing. This approach can help make it safer.
