Rostec Unveils “AntiSleep” System in Venezuela to Prevent Driver Fatigue

Russia’s AI-powered safety technologies, including “Aurora” and “AntiSleep,” have cut road accidents by 85% and are now heading to global markets.

Russian state corporation Rostec has showcased two of its latest transport safety innovations — the “Aurora” pedestrian illumination system and the “AntiSleep” driver monitoring technology — at the Russia–Venezuela Strategic Partnership Forum in Caracas. Both systems, already proven effective in Russia, are now being offered to international partners to improve road safety worldwide.

Developed with artificial intelligence and computer vision, AntiSleep continuously monitors a driver’s condition in real time. The system detects yawning, eye closure, and phone use, then issues audio and vibration alerts to refocus the driver’s attention. Falling asleep behind the wheel becomes nearly impossible — and accident risks drop dramatically.

“More than 16,000 units are already in operation,” said Alexander Kuzhekin, development director at RT-Project Technologies. “As a result, driver-related traffic accidents have decreased by 85%, vehicle repair costs by 65%, and equipment downtime by 30%.”

The system can be installed on any type of transport — from passenger cars and trucks to trains and even helicopters. In addition to preventing fatigue-related accidents, it collects behavioral data for predictive analytics, helping fleet operators identify risky driving patterns and intervene before incidents occur.

Painting a “Zebra” on Snow and Asphalt

The second Rostec innovation, the Aurora-V system, enhances pedestrian safety by projecting a bright, high-contrast crosswalk (“zebra”) directly onto the road surface — visible even in snow, rain, or darkness. The technology uses dynamic projection to draw drivers’ attention and has already been deployed across 25 regions of Russia, where it has significantly reduced pedestrian-related accidents on hazardous road sections.

By exporting these intelligent systems, Rostec aims to share Russia’s road-safety advancements with global partners. As smart infrastructure becomes a cornerstone of modern mobility, solutions like AntiSleep and Aurora highlight how AI and engineering innovation can save lives — both in Russia and abroad.
