Kemerovo Chemical Plant Cuts Worker Training Time With 3D Industrial Simulator

The onboarding process for new employees has been reduced from one month to just four days.

The Azot chemical plant in Kemerovo has developed and deployed a new 3D simulator designed to train employees on industrial equipment operations. The platform recreates the full sequence of procedures involved in launching and operating factory systems.

To build the simulator, engineers conducted detailed scans of valves, pipelines, and other components inside the plant’s Ammonia-1 production unit. Working together with experienced operators, the developers also modeled the correct sequence of actions required during equipment startup and operation.

The system reduced training time for new employees from one month to four days. Instead of repeatedly memorizing theory, workers now practice key procedures directly on a virtual twin of the facility, while the platform automatically evaluates employee performance. Plant representatives say new hires can now begin participating in real production processes within about a week of joining the company.

Engineers are also developing a VR version of the simulator designed to create a more immersive training environment.
