Rostec has deployed a new cargo-inspection system at one of Russia’s nuclear-industry facilities. According to the company, this marks the first use of equipment in this class at a strategic industrial site.

The system, designated ST-2640, features high-penetration scanning capabilities. It can inspect cargo concealed behind steel barriers up to 400 millimeters thick, allowing operators to examine sealed containers without opening them. The platform can also automatically identify prohibited items and alert personnel.

Rostec said the system is capable of analyzing extremely dense and inert materials that appear as opaque masses to conventional inspection platforms. These include large metal components and industrial blanks, multi-ton machine tools, and tungsten-based products.

According to the company, the ST-2640 significantly increases security at strategic facilities without slowing inspection procedures.
