Sumit Kumar: Artificial Intelligence Should Not Oppress Us
Moscow’s Gorky Park became a meeting place for members of the international IT community for several days.

At the 2nd Global Digital Forum, international guests are exploring new solutions, sharing experience, and discussing areas for future cooperation. Key topics include digital sovereignty, technological development, and partnerships between countries. Sumit Kumar, a specialist in national policy and strategy from India, spoke to the IT Russia media platform about which topics he considers most relevant and what role artificial intelligence should play in people’s lives.
– This is my first time in Russia and my first time in Moscow. At the forum, I met many people from Southeast Asia, the Middle East, China, Japan, Taiwan, and Pakistan. Both members of the general public and professionals have gathered here. We are discussing next-generation technologies, their impact on society, and topics that will matter in the future. These include artificial intelligence and new platforms.
I think this is a wonderful venue for young people. They can discover new ideas here and consider how to apply them for the benefit of their countries, as well as which innovations might prove useful in the future. This is an excellent forum, held with the support of the Moscow government and the Russian government as a whole.
After attending the forum, I would single out one particularly relevant topic: artificial intelligence and the human being. This is the most important issue. When talking about artificial intelligence, I would like to point out that it does not always mean that actual intelligence is present. We are on a kind of journey from zero intelligence to absolute intelligence. Artificial intelligence is a new tool that allows us to make that journey. That is how I define it.
We must remember that artificial intelligence should not oppress us. Nevertheless, it is important to people. Humans are the ones who create artificial intelligence, and we must never forget that.
