Smart TV Set-Top Boxes Begin Production in Russia
Domestic production of Wink Box Mini set-top boxes has launched in Russia’s Kaliningrad region.
Serial production of Wink Box Mini TV set-top boxes has started at the Digital Television Systems plant in the Kaliningrad region. The first batch of devices has already been shipped to a Russian digital services operator.
Production Moves to Kaliningrad
Mass production of the set-top boxes has been organized at Digital Television Systems, a company that is part of the GS Technopolis cluster and located in the city of Gusev. Previously, devices of this type - although developed in Russia - were manufactured at factories in China. Assembly has now been localized domestically.
The first batch included 21,500 devices. Two heavy-duty trucks were used to deliver the shipment to the customer. By the end of the year, the plant plans to ship about 50,000 additional set-top boxes.
A Set-Top Box Every 20 Seconds
The production line began operating at the end of December and currently employs more than 70 workers. A new smart TV set-top box rolls off the assembly line every 20 seconds. The line has a capacity of up to 2,400 devices per day. The plant is gradually increasing production to ensure stable supplies for the domestic market.
Growth Driven by Electronics Manufacturing
Kaliningrad region governor Alexey Besprozvannykh has previously highlighted the rapid development of the electronics industry in the region. According to him, production of electrical equipment in 2025 increased fourfold.
The governor also noted that the development of the industrial cluster in Gusev is supporting economic growth in the eastern part of the region and creating new jobs in the high-tech sector.
