Russia to Begin Manufacturing Laptop Casings Domestically for the First Time
The Arzamas-based plant will start production within months, marking a new step toward self-sufficiency in electronics manufacturing.

Russia is preparing to launch its first-ever domestic production of laptop casings, a segment previously reliant on imports. The new facility will operate at Rikor Electronics, a long-established computer and electronics manufacturer in the city of Arzamas.
According to Andrey Shperling, the company’s general director, producing a laptop casing is a complex, labor-intensive process that requires several custom-designed molds. Developing these molds typically takes months.
The full-scale production of laptop casings is expected to begin between late 2025 and early 2026, a move that could significantly reduce Russia’s dependency on imported components and strengthen its domestic electronics supply chain.
