AI Joins Jury to Evaluate Student Coders at Sirius Hackathon
An AI agent reviewed participants’ code overnight, as AI entered the judging process for the first time.

The Sirius University of Science and Technology hosted its student hackathon Ctrl+Vibe focused on mobile development, where teams spent a week building three types of products: a campus task distribution platform, an AI-powered nutrition and recipe assistant, and a project management automation system. The event was supported by the Yandex School of Data Analysis and Yandex Cloud.
A key feature of the hackathon was an AI agent named Zhanna, which evaluated participants’ work alongside human judges.
The event centered on the concept of vibe coding - an approach in which developers actively use AI tools to rapidly build solutions. Final scores combined automated code analysis with evaluations of live presentations by industry professionals.
