Gazprom Transgaz Yekaterinburg Deploys In-House Satellite Communication Technology
The network coverage is provided through mobile communication complexes built around Russian satellite systems.
Specialists at Gazprom Transgaz Yekaterinburg have successfully deployed a satellite communication technology based on Russia’s Yamal satellites. The system is designed to improve communication with employees working at remote sections of gas pipelines.
The company began its first satellite-communication experiments in 2024, testing both stationary and mobile systems. The mobile version proved to be the more effective option.
The company now uses the Kupol-160 complex. Engineers at the enterprise developed both the telecommunications equipment and the operational technology behind the system. The equipment can be deployed in mobile trailers and utility vehicle bodies. The system provides coverage across a 14-kilometer area and supports voice communication, image transmission and email services.
The company said the equipment passed all inspections by Roskomnadzor and received all required operating approvals.
