In Russia, a Cybersecurity System Learns to Spot Insider Threats Through Audio

The corporate data protection platform has gained speech recognition capabilities, enabling it to prevent data leaks during audio communications.

In Russia, cybersecurity company SearchInform has expanded the functionality of its DLP platform, SearchInform KIB, by integrating the Whisper-AI speech recognition module. The upgrade allows the system to automatically analyze voice content and detect potential information security violations without human involvement.

Protecting Information

Data loss prevention (DLP) systems are designed to protect information within organizations. They monitor how employees transmit and use data and help prevent leaks of trade secrets, personal data, and financial information. The integration of Whisper-AI strengthens this functionality by adding full-scale audio content analysis.

Any Audio Data

Thanks to automatic speech recognition (ASR) technology, the system can now process virtually any type of audio data, including files, voice messages and calls in messengers and social networks, as well as audio recordings and video conferences.

Speech is automatically converted into text, after which content analysis is applied to check compliance with a company’s security policies. This significantly speeds up the work of information security teams and reduces the need for manual reviews.

As noted by SearchInform’s lead analyst Leonid Churikov, Whisper-AI delivers speech recognition accuracy of up to 95 percent.

“Information security specialists no longer need to listen to hours of employee conversations. The system itself identifies suspicious phrases and alerts teams to potential risks,” he explained.

For example, KIB can detect signs of corruption or unauthorized agreements based on characteristic wording used in conversations.

Across Any Software Environment

The Whisper-AI module operates both in Windows environments and on Russian and foreign Linux operating systems, supporting more than 30 languages. Depending on their needs, customers can choose a lightweight model optimized for speed or a larger one designed for maximum recognition accuracy.

The standard deployment uses a balanced configuration that offers an optimal trade-off between speed and performance.

In addition, the Vosk ASR engine remains available within the system, giving companies flexibility to select a model that best fits their infrastructure. Both solutions are provided at no extra cost and operate locally, ensuring full data confidentiality.

The integration of Whisper-AI turns SearchInform KIB into a universal monitoring tool that meets modern information security requirements amid the rapid growth of voice-based communications.
