Kirov Region Turns to Artificial Intelligence for Government Management
Governor Alexander Sokolov held the first meeting of an interagency commission on the adoption of artificial intelligence technologies in the region. In 2026, the region is expected to meet 14 key AI performance indicators across five sectors.

Sokolov recalled remarks by the Russian president and outlined the region’s position.
At the same time, the governor stressed that AI will not replace humans.
The region already uses six AI solutions registered on the Tsifrovoy region (Digital Region) federal platform. The Lesookhranitel (Forest Guard) system has reduced wildfire detection times from one day to 10 minutes. Bezopasnaya shkola (Safe School) automatically alerts staff to potential threats. An intelligent transportation system in Kirov has reduced travel times on major routes by a factor of 1.5. Hospitals use a clinical decision-support system for physicians. The governor’s situation center automatically monitors 3,000 regional development indicators.
Following the meeting, Sokolov instructed relevant agencies to study successful practices from other regions and prepare proposals for the AI implementation roadmap.
