Russian Schools to Update Educational Standards for High School Students
The Ministry of Education plans to approve a new federal educational standard for grades 10–11 in July 2026. The document will change the approach to learning and, for the first time, formally include artificial intelligence skills.

One of the key changes will give students the option to study all subjects at the basic level. At the same time, those who choose a specialized academic track will be able to study selected subjects in greater depth.
Mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology programs will become more practical and focused on real-world applications. Skills related to working with artificial intelligence technologies will be included in the mandatory list of cross-disciplinary learning outcomes. The standard also takes into account the regional, national, and ethnocultural characteristics of Russia’s peoples and clearly defines the list of equipment required for schools.
