Meat Processor Near Moscow Automates Production Using an MES System
A digital twin of the plant’s main production area has already delivered measurable gains.
The Klin Meat Processing Plant, part of the PRODO holding and based in the Moscow region, has completed the automation of its materials warehouse and spice-assembly area using a Russian-built MES system on the 1C platform.
The creation of a digital twin of the main production area has already produced early results. The accuracy of operations has increased by 20 percent, according to the press service of the Moscow Region Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
Tracking Expiration Dates
The new system, first, introduced location-based storage across warehouses. Second, materials intake and order formation are now fully automated, eliminating paper-based workflows for staff. In addition, the system tracks expiration dates and the specific batches of raw materials in use. All data is displayed in real time.
Looking ahead, the plant plans to connect production, heat treatment, and cooling areas to the system, followed by automation of packaging, labeling, and transfer of finished products to the warehouse. If the rollout proves successful, the system will be scaled across other enterprises within the holding.
National Food Security
The ministry noted that the region is demonstrating a high level of digital transformation in the agri-food sector. More than a dozen enterprises are actively adopting modern technologies and optimizing production processes — from vegetable cultivation to meat and confectionery manufacturing. Beyond improving performance at individual plants, these efforts ultimately strengthen the country’s food security.
Earlier, we reported that the Vurnar Meat Processing Plant in the Chuvash Republic had launched Russia’s first fully robotic finished-goods warehouse built entirely with domestically produced equipment and software.
