More than 700,000 vehicles have been connected to Russia's ERA-GLONASS national emergency response system since the beginning of 2026. That represents a 20% increase compared with the same period last year.

The system was launched in 2015 following an instruction from Russian President Vladimir Putin. In the event of a serious road accident or other emergency, it can automatically transmit an emergency alert in as little as 19 seconds, even if the occupants are unable to call for help themselves. According to the operator, the rapid response capability significantly improves the chances of saving lives.

Since entering service, ERA-GLONASS has processed more than 612,000 emergency calls, including over 69,000 since the start of 2026. About 59,000 of those alerts were generated automatically following serious collisions.

"ERA-GLONASS statistics continue to demonstrate the system's core value – transmitting information about serious accidents within seconds without requiring any action from the vehicle's occupants, when drivers or passengers may be unable to call for help themselves. Vehicle owners also frequently use the SOS button to report other emergencies during their journeys, including fires, criminal incidents, and natural disasters," said Alexey Raikevich, CEO of GLONASS JSC.
