Russia Plans to Deploy AI Across Bioeconomy Sector
Officials say neural networks and big data tools will be integrated to boost competitiveness and restore global leadership

Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade has proposed deploying neural networks and big data technologies across the country’s bioeconomy. According to Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov, the move is intended to help Russia regain a leading position in the sector.
Alikhanov made the statement at a joint session of the State Council’s industry commission and a government subcommission on the chemical industry and bioeconomy, stressing that falling behind global trends is not an option.
In addition to AI, the ministry plans to prioritize other advanced technologies, including molecular engineering, genetic engineering, bioinformatics, and computational biology. Combined with neural networks, these fields could push Russian science to a new level, officials said.
A Digital Command Center in Government
The Russian government has established a dedicated subcommission for the development and deployment of artificial intelligence, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko.
The new body will act as an internal command center to accelerate decisions on AI adoption across industry, social services, and public administration, with the bioeconomy identified as a top priority.
