The Russian service Yandex Translate will add the Crimean Tatar language, according to TASS. Russia’s Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs is expected to sign an agreement with the developer and regional authorities. The feature will be supported by artificial intelligence, with engineers currently working on the technical implementation. Researchers will train the AI on large datasets to support the new language. The service is expected to launch next year.

Language Database

There are about 350,000 speakers of Crimean Tatar worldwide. Yandex Translate regularly adds minority and regional languages. The company is currently building a dataset for the Nenets language. In 2025, it added Mansi, Abaza, and Nogai. The service now supports around 20 languages of Russia’s ethnic groups and about 100 languages globally. It can translate words, sentences, and full texts, as well as text in images, and supports voice input.
