Nearly 100 autonomous trucks are currently operating on Russia’s M-11 Neva highway and the Central Ring Road, with their combined mileage exceeding 10 million kilometers during the pilot phase, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at the Digital Qazaqstan 2026 forum.

Mishustin said the vehicles are being used not only to test safety but also to refine future logistics models. He called on partners in the Eurasian Economic Union and other friendly countries to launch joint projects on autonomous freight transport along key international corridors, building on Russia’s ecosystem of self-driving technologies.

Expanding the Pilot and Fleet

Earlier reports indicated that the experimental framework for autonomous trucks will expand to additional highways in 2026. Regular operations are planned for the M-4 highway, while the Amur region is preparing a pilot run of driverless trucks across the Blagoveshchensk–Heihe bridge under a special regulatory regime.

Analysts expect Russia’s fleet of autonomous trucks to grow to around 920 units by the end of 2028. Three manufacturers are currently active in the market: Yandex, Kamaz, and Navio (Avtotech).
