SiburTyumenGaz is upgrading and deploying automated process control systems at boiler facilities and transitioning to modern domestic digital solutions. By introducing Russian-made programmable controllers, the company is building a unified digital control environment designed to improve equipment reliability.

The company has upgraded the “intelligent layer” of boiler systems at several gas processing sites. Modernization has been completed at the Gubkinsky Gas Processing Plant, where a domestic APCS system has been implemented. At the Vyngayakhinskaya compressor station, a modular boiler unit has been installed under the control of a Russian vendor. Upgrades at the Nizhnevartovsk Gas Processing Plant are nearing completion, with additional modernization planned for two more boiler facilities in Nizhnevartovsk and Muravlenko in the coming years.

New domestic programmable controllers have been deployed across the facilities. Engineers can now independently configure and refine control algorithms without relying on external contractors. Increasing numbers of sensors and actuators are being integrated into a unified digital system, enabling more precise control of fuel supply, temperature, and pressure, as well as faster response to deviations.

Automation to Prevent Failures

As a result, the level of automation at boiler facilities is expected to exceed 92% by 2026, with full automation targeted by 2029. The systems will be capable of preventing abnormal situations automatically, which is particularly critical for boiler operations.

The modernization is expected to reduce unplanned downtime and lower operating costs. Many processes are being shifted to control rooms, minimizing risks for personnel, while automated safety systems provide additional monitoring of equipment performance.

Earlier reports said SIBUR has been pursuing large-scale digital transformation since 2018, integrating AI into key processes from logistics to quality control.
