Russia and Eurasian Economic Union Countries to Expand AI Cooperation
Agreement signed at the Digital Qazaqstan 2026 forum aims to accelerate joint innovation projects

Russia and member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) have agreed to deepen cooperation in artificial intelligence at the Digital Qazaqstan 2026 forum. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said the participating countries view the initiative as both promising and mutually beneficial. A joint statement by heads of state on advancing AI within the union is currently in preparation, with the agreement expected to speed up the launch of collaborative innovation projects.
AI as a Practical Tool for People
Mishustin cited remarks by President Vladimir Putin that countries are now competing to develop large language models. He added that Russia already has high-quality models in place that are widely used, as they are designed to understand users, context, and culture.
EAEU countries, he said, should gain access to localized versions of such models tailored to national specifics and supported by Russian engineering. Mishustin emphasized that neural networks are becoming practical tools for everyday use and should be accessible to everyone.
