Five schools in Blagoveshchensk, Amur Oblast, Russia are installing a new type of vending machine—stocked not with soda or candy, but with ready-to-eat meals. The equipment will be deployed at Gymnasium No. 1, Schools No. 5, 26, and 28, as well as at the second campus of School No. 16. The system will allow students to grab a quick snack or a full meal without lining up in the cafeteria, according to the city administration, which spoke to IT-Russia.

Pioneer or QR Code

Modern food vending machines are already operating at School No. 22 and Gymnasium No. 25. The rollout will expand into a broader network, with each location equipped with three units, each containing 16 compartments stocked daily with fresh meals. Students will be able to pay using the Pioner (Pioneer payment system) or via QR code through the Faster Payments System.

Before the school day begins and during breaks, the machines are stocked with menu items ranging from hot meals—such as mashed potatoes with cutlet in thermal containers—to snacks and drinks. Students can select an item, pay, and receive their food immediately.

The equipment has already been delivered to the schools, with setup scheduled to begin next week. Students are expected to start using the machines by mid-April.

Earlier we reported that Russian schools are combining IT education with sports programs.
