Russia’s Delivery Robots Head to Siberia

Autonomous delivery bots already working in Moscow and Kazan are expanding to 37 Russian regions, with Irkutsk among the next destinations.

Delivery robots—already a common sight in Moscow, Tatarstan, and the Leningrad region—are about to make their debut in Siberian cities. Irkutsk will be among the latest areas where the self-driving bots take on tasks like delivering food, marketplace orders, and more.

Their movement on public roads will be tightly regulated by law, including traffic rules. In Irkutsk, for instance, the robots will have a speed cap of 25 kilometers per hour. Each unit must carry insurance and follow strict protocols in case of unexpected traffic scenarios.

Currently, Russia’s robot delivery fleet numbers around 150 to 160 units, all operated by Yandex. More than 580 restaurants and businesses are connected to the service. According to the Ministry of Economic Development, robots in Moscow alone complete over 30,000 deliveries per month. Now, the network is set to expand to 37 Russian regions, including Udmurtia, Chuvashia, and territories across Central Russia and Siberia. Experts believe the infrastructure is in place to support this scale-up.
