Uncrewed Airship for Arctic Cargo Delivery Could Emerge in Russia
Developers aim to assemble a working 200-cubic-meter airship capable of carrying about 500 kg.

A prototype of an uncrewed airship designed to deliver cargo to remote Arctic regions could be assembled in 2026, Alexander Safronov, first deputy permanent representative of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) to the Russian president, told the RIA Novosti news agency.
The idea for the drone airship was proposed at the Sever Scientific and Educational Center while researchers were exploring new ways to deliver goods to residents of hard-to-reach northern settlements.
Many Factors to Consider
The airship is expected to have a payload capacity of roughly 500 kilograms. Developers will need to account for multiple operational factors, including ballast balancing, parking logistics and challenging weather conditions.
