Students from the Buryat State Agricultural Academy have been named among the winners of the All-Russian AgroHackathon on the use of artificial intelligence in livestock farming, with their project taking top honors in the Innovation category.

The team presented a system for automated assessment of the condition of farm animals’ limbs. It enables early detection of pathologies in pigs and allows treatment to begin sooner, significantly reducing potential livestock losses.

Initial tests demonstrated the feasibility of automatically diagnosing limb pathologies in pigs.

Representatives of the Buryat State Agricultural Academy said the hackathon provided valuable insights, and the team has already outlined plans for further development of the system, which is expected to significantly expand its functionality.
