The first power unit of the Akkuyu nuclear plant in Turkey has entered the scheduled pre-startup peer review stage by the Moscow Center of the World Association of Nuclear Operators. Specialists will evaluate the readiness of both personnel and equipment.

The review will be conducted on a full-scope simulator, with three scenarios modeled to closely replicate real-world conditions. A detailed reconstruction of operating modes will make it possible to assess the crew's ability to manage the unit, monitor its condition, and respond appropriately to simulated equipment failures.

"The WANO mission is a significant milestone for the plant during its pre-startup phase. This is not merely a scheduled review, but a key tool for developing the teams already in place, identifying their strengths, and finding areas for improvement. Cooperation with WANO gives us access to valuable industry experience and the opportunity to study and adopt global best practices. Missions like this help strengthen constructive dialogue within the team, openly discuss growth areas, and strive to improve the quality of our day-to-day work," said Sergey Butskikh, Director General of Akkuyu Nuclear JSC.
