Iskra Technologies Brings Mobile IMS to Market for Enterprise Communications Networks

The new development significantly expands the possibilities for using modern digital tools.

More and more Russian companies are deploying private communications networks at their facilities. This is particularly useful in remote areas where sufficiently developed telecommunications infrastructure is not available nearby. Beyond telephony, private networks can accelerate the digitalization of industrial operations, including through the use of Internet of Things technology.

What IMS Does

IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) plays a key role in building full-featured enterprise communications systems. The subsystem functions as a digital platform, flexibly processing and routing voice and video calls while offering subscribers additional communications services. IMS is what makes it possible to build infocommunications environments on top of a private LTE core that are comparable with public carrier networks in both reliability and range of services.

The introduction of a mobile IMS developed by Iskra Technologies could mark the next step in the evolution of enterprise communications networks. The system is designed to expand the capabilities of a private LTE core.

Expanding Capabilities

The mobile IMS operates as hardware-independent software running on standard COTS servers – COTS stands for Commercial Off-The-Shelf – and virtualization platforms. It allows an enterprise to deploy a full-featured PBX on-site, including support for short extension numbers for employees.

The new system offers not only conventional communications with wireless data transmission but also support for the carrier-grade VoLTE and ViLTE standards. As a result, users no longer need third-party apps for video and audio calls – everything works through the smartphone's native interface.

Connecting to External Networks

The mobile IMS also provides connectivity to external telephone networks. Employees at an enterprise running pLTE can call numbers outside the corporate network, while all traffic passes through the secure core within the company's own environment.

Mobile and fixed-line telephony are available within a single architecture. The customer gets one network core instead of two disparate systems, reducing operating costs.

Finally, the mobile IMS provides flexible network scalability. The number of connected subscribers can grow from several hundred to thousands without requiring additional hardware upgrades.

There is little doubt that Iskra Technologies’ new system will attract customers. Russia’s private communications network market is undergoing rapid growth. According to ComNews Research, the country had 173 commercial and pilot Private LTE/5G projects as of November 2025. The main customers are mining, oil and gas, and other industrial companies. Of those projects, 102 were commercial. By comparison, there were 40 commercial projects in November 2024.

The Result of Years of Work

Iskra Technologies itself has been actively working to improve private enterprise communications networks. In 2022, it offered an EPC packet core and a PTT service for corporate radio communications. This was one of the early stages in the development of the company's current product portfolio.

In October 2024, the company announced the development of an integrated private LTE/5G system. Its key advantage was complete autonomy: it remains operational even if all connectivity to external networks is lost. This allows organizations to maintain the uninterrupted data transmission and control processes required for modern industrial operations.

The mobile IMS builds on that earlier work. It draws on extensive engineering experience, underscoring the product's technological maturity. Over time, the new system could be integrated into comprehensive Russian Private LTE/5G solutions for mining, manufacturing and logistics companies, which are interested in taking advantage of the full range of modern digital tools.

We started out as a company with a voice core. We have a strong understanding of technology trends and which new technologies need to be incorporated into systems to make them attractive to both telecom operators and enterprises. Our experience allows us to bring our IMS solution to the mobile communications market
