VinLab and Yandex Team Up to Set New Digital Retail Standards

Yandex technologies will improve customer experience and streamline operations at VinLab – the companies have formed a long-term partnership to roll out integrated digital solutions in retail.

The new business model relies on AI, big data and omnichannel architecture. Customer behavior analytics and demand forecasting will make retail operations more efficient and support the development of a digital commerce platform.

Improving Customer Experience

The rollout will cover the entire retail network, serving more than 10 million customers. In the first phase, the companies will introduce marketing analytics systems, personalized shopping tools and new payment services. Yandex B2B Tech is developing the solutions.

“Partnering with Yandex helps us strengthen our position in online sales within our segment, improve customer experience and increase operational efficiency by improving assortment, pricing and marketing decisions with data,” said VinLab CEO Sergey Vinogradov.

Inventory to Robots, Analytics to AI

The partnership builds on earlier projects between the companies. Novabev Group, which includes VinLab, already uses inventory robots from Yandex Robotics in its distribution center. This has increased inventory counting speed by 60 times – employees no longer need to scan items on warehouse shelves, as robots now handle the entire process.

New digital tools for e-commerce will improve service quality and, as a result, customer loyalty – along with revenue and margins. For customers, AI and data-driven technologies will offer more relevant products, better product availability and more convenient payment options.

Fintech Integration Drives Efficiency

Building a stronger internal ecosystem of digital retail solutions is particularly important as e-commerce grows. In 2025, its turnover reached 11.5 trillion rubles (approximately $151 billion).

Future growth will depend not on geographic expansion, but on integrated technology solutions. This means deeper personalization through tools that directly affect LTV and conversion. AI models will be used more widely for demand forecasting, assortment optimization, pricing and logistics, helping cut costs and losses. Meanwhile, integrating fintech features – such as seamless payments, embedded credit products and loyalty programs across the customer experience – will boost retention and average order value.

Retail Digitalization in Practice

Retail digitalization in Russia is accelerating. In 2021, major retailer Magnit began using AI for personalization and micro-segmentation for customer offers. In 2022, the company adopted customer value management (CVM) tools, automating promotional campaign management.

In 2025, another major retailer, X5, rolled out nine technology platforms with AI agents and analytics modules into its operations. This upgraded workforce management, customer interaction in mobile applications, operational processes and logistics.

VinLab’s long-term agreement with Yandex continues this shift – moving from logistics automation toward digitalization of customer experience and commercial analytics.

The Era of Integrated Solutions

Russian technology platforms are becoming central to digital transformation in the real sector of the economy. Businesses are shifting to integrated solutions tied to measurable KPIs rather than standalone tools. Over the next three years, partnerships between major retailers and domestic B2B tech platforms will grow, while competition in retail will focus on data quality, personalization and seamless omnichannel service.

For Yandex B2B Tech, our work with VinLab will help us scale technologies faster, strengthen product expertise and set standards for applying generative AI, data analytics and other technologies for other players in this highly competitive market
