Roscosmos Opens Online Applications for Cosmonaut Corps
Roscosmos has launched an online application system for aspiring cosmonauts via the Gosuslugi (state services portal). Applications will be accepted through June 30, 2026.
The new format simplifies document submission to the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center, where a selection committee oversees the selection process.
Candidates must meet several requirements, including Russian citizenship, age under 35, height between 150 and 190 cm, and weight between 50 and 90 kg. Applicants must also hold a higher education degree, have at least three years of professional experience, demonstrate foreign language proficiency, and meet strict health and psychological standards.
The selection process includes multiple stages: an online application, a medical examination, and an in-person phase at the training center with testing and interviews. A interagency panel makes the final decision. Candidates who pass all stages sign a contract and begin flight training.
