Russia Plans to Nearly Double Its AI Workforce by 2030
The country aims to train 90,000 AI specialists as artificial intelligence expands across government and industry.

Russia is scaling up its investment in artificial intelligence talent. According to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko, more than 57,000 specialists in the country already work with AI technologies — a number the government wants to boost to 90,000 by 2030.
Speaking at the InfoTech 2025 forum, Grigorenko said that nearly every Russian region is now using AI in business and public administration.
Building the AI Talent Pipeline
To meet this target, the government has selected 20 leading universities to focus on AI research and education. With support from Russia’s major tech companies, these institutions will conduct studies, develop new learning methods, and design advanced AI model architectures.
The plan comes amid a surge in public adoption: according to recent surveys, AI usage among Russian citizens has risen to 39% in the past year.
For Moscow, AI isn’t just a technology — it’s becoming a national competency. By 2030, Russia expects not just to use AI but to produce the experts who define its next generation.
