Russia to Establish Task Force to Oversee AI Development
Regulation and deployment of artificial intelligence to become a cross-agency effort.

Russia plans to create a federal operational task force on artificial intelligence to accelerate the deployment of AI technologies and coordinate projects in this field.
Under a presidential decree, the new body will serve as the central management hub for the country’s AI development. The task force will address practical issues related to introducing AI into the economy, public services, and the social sector, as well as assess its effectiveness. Particular attention will be given to developing so-called trusted AI – systems that meet standards for security, resilience, and data protection.
Coordinating Efforts
The task force will coordinate the efforts of government agencies, research institutions, and businesses, while also supporting the expansion of computing infrastructure and capacity for training and deploying AI models. These joint efforts are intended to accelerate the adoption of domestic technologies and remove infrastructure constraints faced by developers and major clients.
The task force will include representatives from federal authorities, regional governments, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and companies working in the AI industry. This structure is designed to reflect industry needs, scientific expertise, and regional priorities.
Russia is shifting toward a more systemic approach to managing AI development. Instead of fragmented initiatives led by individual agencies, a unified coordination center is being formed. The goal is to ensure that new technologies are implemented in a targeted and centrally managed way aligned with national priorities.
