Russia Publishes First University Textbook on Cyberpsychology
New academic volume aims to explain human behavior in digital environments.

Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod (UNN) has published Russia’s first textbook on cyberpsychology, the university’s press service said. The applied psychology volume examines how people interact with cyber systems. Titled Vvedenie v Kiberpsikhologiyu: Uchebnik dlya Vuzov (Introduction to Cyberpsychology: A University Textbook), the book sits at the intersection of information technology, sociocultural change, and psychology. It was designed as a comprehensive foundation for in-depth study of the discipline.
According to UNN Rector Oleg Trofimov, the work addresses patterns of digital behavior and communication, associated risks, and the specifics of Russia’s education system.
All in One Source
The university operates a dedicated Department of Cyberpsychology, with courses taught in both Russian and English. Until now, there had been no unified textbook: faculty relied on fragmented materials, translated foreign monographs, and compiled original content from instructors at various universities. The new volume aims to provide a coherent overview of the field.
The textbook brings together leading international and domestic empirical studies, statistical data and reviews, as well as findings from the university’s own research projects.
