VIM Centre Develops Automated Control System Prototypes for Breeding Combine
The systems are designed to improve precision and reduce operator workload.

Specialists at the VIM Centre have developed experimental prototypes of automated control systems for a breeding combine. The systems are intended for sampling, grain moisture measurement, weighing, labeling and documentation, as well as grain loss monitoring. The development drew on modern electronic components and unified communication interfaces.
The suite of technical solutions includes a weighing and documentation system based on strain-gauge sensors and a programmable controller, a grain loss assessment system using a catch cloth, and an optical sampling system from the pneumatic duct for in-flow grain analysis. According to the developers, the new system will help optimize grain harvesting quality, improve the reliability of recorded data, and reduce physical strain on personnel during breeding operations.
