East Mining Company Explores AI Deployment in Production
The company is working with researchers from Sakhalin State University to identify potential uses for the technology.

Employees at East Mining Company and researchers from Sakhalin State University are exploring ways to deploy artificial intelligence across the company’s operations. The teams are conducting a detailed assessment of its production sites to identify workflows where digital tools could be integrated.
They have already identified about 20 potential AI use cases, including telemetry analysis, machine vision and decision-support tools. The researchers see computer vision as one of the most promising areas, with potential applications in monitoring conveyor equipment and tracking road conditions at the mine.
The company initially plans to deploy the new tools in small-scale projects where their effectiveness can be assessed quickly.
