Yandex Maps Now Shows Speed Limits Along the Entire Route
The app also now shows which direction traffic cameras are monitoring.
Yandex Maps has received a major update designed to improve road safety. One change gives drivers a more detailed view of speed limits along the road. Drivers can now see restrictions not only on their current stretch of road but also on upcoming sections of their route.
“For example, the service will show that the speed limit is 80 km/h [50 mph – ed. note] until an interchange, then drops to 60 km/h [37 mph– ed. note] and later to 40 km/h [25 mph– ed. note]. This means drivers can slow down in advance to stay within the limits. A pilot rollout of the feature shows that it helps drivers comply with speed limits,” Yandex’s press service said.
Information about traffic cameras has also been redesigned. The service now shows which direction the next two cameras along the route are monitoring, allowing drivers to know which traffic flow is being observed. If a camera measures speed after a vehicle has passed it, Yandex Maps will also issue a voice warning.
