AI-Curated Audio Tours Are Changing the Way Tourists Explore Moscow

AI-generated walking tours are now guiding travelers through Moscow’s most historic and lesser-known landmarks, blending smart tech with cultural storytelling

Russia’s capital is embracing artificial intelligence to revolutionize the tourist experience. The Russpass travel service, designed to help visitors navigate Moscow and other major cities, has released five new audio tours generated entirely by AI. These smart guides not only map out routes but also narrate them, bringing the city’s cultural and historical depth to life.

The latest batch includes tours through Yauza Park, the Timiryazev State Biological Museum, the 'Floriculture and Landscaping' pavilion at VDNH, and the Main Botanical Garden of the Russian Academy of Sciences. One tour takes a literary turn, leading visitors through the former homes of Soviet writers such as Boris Pasternak, Yevgeny Yevtushenko, and Korney Chukovsky.

Natalya Sergunina, Deputy Mayor of Moscow, said the city plans to launch audio stories for 1,500 notable locations by the end of the year. The goal is to deepen public engagement with Moscow’s heritage while making tourism more interactive and accessible.

Since its launch in 2020, Russpass has become a go-to platform for domestic and international travelers. In the first half of 2025 alone, it processed about 26 million user requests. Over its five-year lifespan, it’s been used more than 63 million times. Currently, the platform offers over 57,000 curated travel routes across Russia—about one-third of them dedicated to Moscow.

Integrating AI into the tourism sector is proving more than a convenience. It’s helping reshape how visitors plan trips, discover hidden gems, and connect with local culture in entirely new ways.
