Russian University Launches Bachelor’s Program in AI Technologies

Astrahan State University is rolling out a full-fledged undergraduate program in artificial intelligence — reflecting Russia’s growing focus on AI education.
Astrakhan State University named after V.N. Tatishchev will begin offering a new bachelor’s degree in 'Systems and Artificial Intelligence Technologies.' Until now, neural network topics were covered only within broader IT courses. This marks the first time students can formally specialize in this high-demand area.
To keep up with industry trends, the university is also launching three more programs: 'Digital Marketing and Data Analytics,' 'Big Data Analysis in Social Processes,' and 'Information Systems in Physics.'
Students from the university have already made headlines with tech-driven innovations. In 2024, the school patented an AI system called ‘Your Path.’ The system was trained on over 3,000 university admission documents and designed to help prospective students choose the right major.
The platform analyzes a high school graduate’s social media footprint — including subscriptions and online communities — to assess interests and suggest compatible academic programs. It also provides insight into future career paths and outlines required entrance exams.
