Russian-Made 5G Antenna Hits Record Internet Speeds in Moscow

A fully domestic 5G antenna developed in Russia has demonstrated gigabit-level speeds in real-world tests — with zero foreign components.

Moscow has completed successful trials of the first entirely Russian-developed 5G antenna. The tests, conducted at the 5G demo center, showed data transmission speeds of up to 1 Gbps, according to TASS. Integrated into a domestic base station, the antenna downloaded a full-length HD movie in just 30 seconds — roughly 10 times faster than typical home internet speeds.

Crucially, every component of the antenna — down to the mounting brackets and connectors — was produced in Russia. The successful demonstration confirms the readiness of Russian-made technology for next-generation network deployment.

Installing this antenna is expected to accelerate further R&D and testing across the country’s 5G infrastructure efforts.

Previously, Russia also developed a tool for assessing the security of authentication protocols in 5G networks, signaling growing momentum in domestic telecom innovation.
