ALROSA Automates Shift Work Permits Across Operations
More than 59,000 digital work permits have been issued in the system over the past six months

ALROSA, the world’s largest diamond mining company, is completing the rollout of an automated system for issuing shift work permits that authorize employees to begin their shifts. The system is expected to streamline a significant share of production processes and become a key element of the company’s digital transformation, the company’s press service told IT Russia.
Scalable and Ready for Expansion
Launched in 2025, the project now covers the Aikhal, Mirny-Nyurba, and Udachny mining and processing divisions, as well as the specialized trust Almazavtomatika and ALROSA’s Capital Construction Directorate. Over the past six months, more than 59,000 work permits have been registered in the system, accounting for nearly 100% of all permits issued across these units. More than 1,500 employees have been granted access. Equipment has been deployed across 192 sites, including corporate network infrastructure at 20 locations.
The system is designed for broader rollout and further development. In total, ALROSA is investing more than 50 million rubles ($~600,000) in automating work permit issuance.
Automation has already delivered measurable results. Workplace safety has improved, and the process of issuing and approving work permits has accelerated. Traditional paper logs have been eliminated, with all records now handled in digital form.
Electronic Permits and Mobile App
The company plans to complete the project by July 2026, expanding the system to additional divisions. It also intends to launch an electronic permit system for high-risk operations and a mobile application that will allow real-time updates to work permits via smartphones or tablets directly at the job site.
Earlier, we reported that ALROSA plans to invest billions in digital transformation.
