Cognitive Pilot has developed a new robotic system that monitors the crop-spraying process. The technology addresses two major challenges facing farmers. It significantly reduces chemical consumption, lowering input costs, while also preventing overapplication that can damage crops and reduce yields. As a result, the developers say the system can increase farm profitability by as much as 40 percent.

The technology also supports prescription maps and variable-rate application plans that are uploaded to the system in advance. Using computer vision, the robot determines precisely where chemicals should be applied and in what quantities.

"The machine knows exactly where it is, where the implement is located, and applies precisely the amount prescribed for that specific area," said Aleksandr Yudakov, product director at Cognitive Pilot.

Field trials showed that the investment in the robotic system can pay for itself within a single growing season.
