Tula Student Builds Smart Home System in Two Weeks

Sixteen-year-old Nikita Bratayev from Tula developed a smart home system that independently controls lighting, curtains, and air conditioning. The project was the result of two years of study at the Kvantorium technopark.

The system operates according to preset scenarios: curtains automatically open at sunrise, the air conditioner turns on during the day, and lights switch on in the evening as soon as the homeowner enters the room. From the initial idea to a working prototype, the student team spent just two weeks developing the project, writing all software code from scratch without using ready-made solutions. Nikita plans to install the system in his own room.

Kvantorium is a free state-funded program open to students from third through eleventh grade. Participants study robotics, programming, design, virtual reality, IT, and 3D modeling. The main requirement is to present an original project at the end of the year, with the strongest projects advancing to national competitions. The next enrollment period begins in September.
