AI System to Monitor Well Equipment Condition
The new system is designed to help prevent major equipment failures.
Tatneft is developing an intelligent system to prevent failures of electric submersible pump (ESP) units, one of the most critical types of equipment used in oil wells. Failures of these systems can lead to prolonged production downtime.
The proposed approach centers on creating a unified digital monitoring system for ESP units. It will continuously collect operating data from wells, including pressure, temperature, vibration, electrical characteristics, and pump performance metrics. A dedicated AI platform will analyze the data to detect anomalies and predict equipment failures several days or even weeks before they occur. Engineers will then be able to schedule maintenance and repairs before a breakdown takes place.
According to the developers, the new methodology could reduce equipment failures by 14% to 25% while extending the average interval between repairs to 700–800 days.
